The IHGFwas founded in 2001 and is now recognized worldwide as the governing body of Highland Games which has total of twenty-three affiliated countries to date. The IHGF sanctions many European and World Championship events around the globe by standardizing the traditional throwing implements and enforcing strict drug testing policies within the Federation. Between IHGF President Francis Brebner, Vice President Adam Darazs, and Honorary Life Member Ryan Vierra the three have become a major driving force in Highland Games worldwide promoting the sport which is fast becoming more popular especially in European countries where major IHGF Championship events are covered for European TV networks.
