2027 Registration UpdatesAbout the Championship
The Tallahassee Highland Games hosts an official International Highland Games Federation (IHGF) Heavy Athletics competition as part of the IHGF All-American Highland Games Series, including the IHGF National Caber Championship.
The 2027 athlete-registration package, guest admission, parking, meals, and division requirements are being finalized. A kilt is traditionally required for competition; the complete 2027 athlete rules will be published with registration.
Scholarship language: All listed amounts are structured as scholarship stipends intended to support athlete expenses (such as hotel, fuel, and food), helping protect eligibility for athletes with Olympic or amateur status considerations while still rewarding performance.

Apalachee Regional Park, Tallahassee, Florida
Public festival hours: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Saturday and 9:00 AM–4:00 PM Sunday, Eastern Time.
Athletics start times, divisions, field assignments, and the detailed competition schedule are to be determined.
The 2026 schedule is not being carried forward. Confirmed 2027 information will be published here as sanctioning, divisions, and operations are finalized.
Heavy Athletics Events

Events follow IHGF standards and typically include:
- Open Stone – one-hand put from the shoulder.
- Braemar Stone – standing put, no approach allowed.
- Weight for Distance – one-hand throw, any safe style.
- Hammer Throws – standing style, no spinning.
- Weight Over Bar – one-hand standing toss.
- Sheaf Toss – 5-foot fork, any safe style permitted.
- Caber Toss – traditional turn, clock-face scoring.

2027 Prizes & Scholarships
The 2027 prize and scholarship structure is being finalized. Prior-year amounts and divisions are not confirmed for 2027 and should be treated as historical examples only.
2027 Qualification Pathways
Qualification pathways, championship selections, and advancement opportunities will be published after the 2027 competition structure is confirmed.
Competing in Multiple Events
Whether athletes may enter multiple 2027 competitions will be confirmed with the final division and field schedule. Do not use the 2026 timetable or registration links for 2027 planning.
On-Site Services & Partners

COSPT will be on-site providing athlete-only chiropractic adjustments and sports recovery massage, helping Heavy Athletics competitors stay healthy across both days of competition.
