Choose the shape of your Tallahassee weekend
Friday arrival: choose one substantial local stop
If you arrive early Friday, choose one experience rather than trying to race across town.
For gardens and outdoor time: Consider Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. Early February falls within the park’s January–April blooming season, although the state identifies late February as the usual floral peak. The park currently opens daily from 8:00 AM to sunset, and the Maclay House is currently open during the January–April season. Check the official hours and fees page before visiting.
For local history: Consider Mission San Luis, a Florida Department of State historic site and National Historic Landmark interpreting the Apalachee and Spanish community that occupied the site from 1656 to 1704. For Florida political history: The Florida Historic Capitol Museum offers exhibits and self-guided resources in downtown Tallahassee.
